Itinerary: 6-Day desert tour from Casablanca

1 DAY: ARRIVAL IN CASABLANCA AND TRANSFER TO FEZ

On the first day of our 6-Day desert tour from Casablanca, meet and greet at Casablanca airport and transfer to Fez, the cultural capital of Morocco. Overnight stay in riad with breakfast.

2 DAY: VISIT FEZ WITH LOCAL GUIDE

A day to explore the city of Fez, the cultural capital and oldest imperial city in the country, which has been the cultural and religious centre of the western Islamic world for centuries and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The labyrinthine alleyways structured by guilds of potters, dyers….. and the bustle of the inhabitants will take you centuries back in time, for this is a medieval city which, 1200 years after its foundation, still retains monuments which we can visit: the meders (schools of the Koran): Chahrij, Buinania Attarin. Markets, Fez El Jedid, Qaraouin Mosque, lunch in a typical restaurant in the medina and a free afternoon. Accommodation in hotel or riad.

3 DAY: FEZ – IFRAN – AZROU – ERRAHIDIA – DESERT

After breakfast, we leave Fez and head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains to visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The next village is Azrou “rock”, a Berber village known for its crafts, carpets and woodcarvings, before we arrive in Midelt. We follow the road through Tizi Talgemt or Camel Pass at an altitude of 1,907 metres. The terrain is spectacular, the mountains are completely bare and covered in a purple mantle. Arrival in Errachidia and start crossing the Tafilalet massif to the palm grove of Erfoud. On the road to the Merzouga Desert Arrival in the desert and the start of an incredible adventure For an hour we ride in a camel caravan that takes us to camp. We stop in the middle of the road to admire the sunset over the dunes and stretch our legs a bit before continuing on to camp, where we have another welcome tea before dinner and the opportunity to climb a large dune or smaller dunes near the camp to watch the shooting stars and make wishes. Overnight in Haimas in the heart of the desert (camp) with dinner and a typical Berber breakfast.

4 DAY: MERZOUGA – OUARZAZATE

We wake up early to see the sunrise, have breakfast at the camp and travel by camel to Rissani, the first imperial town in Morocco, to visit the legendary market, the largest in the south of Morocco, and continue to Tazzarin via Alnif, in the heart of the Madera basin. We follow the road to the famous Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, the Valley of the Roses and the oasis of Skoura. Arrival in Ouarzazate and overnight stay at riad hotel, dinner and breakfast.

5 DAY: OUARZAZATE – KASBAH AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

Breakfast and departure for Marrakech Before continuing to Marrakech, visit the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Kasbah where numerous films were filmed including Obelix, Babel, The Sahara, Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra and Gladiator. We then follow the road to Marrakech and cross the High Atlas mountains through the Tizin Tichka pass (at 2,260m, the highest pass in the Atlas) with its spectacular views. In the afternoon we will reach Marrakech and stay overnight in one of the riads with breakfast.

6 DAY: MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA

Breakfast in the riad and departure for Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco. You will visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world. In the afternoon transfer to the hotel.
